The New Patriarch of the ICCEC

With hearts anchored in hope and trust in God’s sovereign leading, the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church (ICCEC) steps into a new chapter of its journey.

After faithfully serving the Church, Archbishop Craig Bates has resigned from his office, rendering his final days in leadership until the end of 2025. His decision reflects not merely a conclusion, but a purposeful and prayerful transition — a clear intent to pass on the baton with wisdom and grace, empowering the next Patriarch to lead the Communion into its next season. His years of guidance and pastoral care have shaped a significant era in the life of the Church, and his deliberate act of entrusting leadership forward stands as a testament to humility, foresight, and deep love for the ICCEC.

On February 13, 2026, the Patriarch’s Council formally selected and appointed Archbishop Charles William Jones, based in Selma, Alabama, as the new Patriarch of the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church (ICCEC). The Council’s decision came after careful discernment and prayer, marking a defining moment for the global Communion.

The announcement of this appointment was made two days later, on February 15, 2026, during the celebration of the Holy Mass at the Cathedral Church of St John in Madrid. Clergy and faithful gathered in solemn worship as the joyful news was proclaimed, making the occasion both historic and deeply spiritual for the ICCEC worldwide.

The official installation of Patriarch Charles William Jones is scheduled to take place on May 3, 2026, in Paris, where bishops, clergy, and representatives from across the Communion are expected to gather for this sacred and historic celebration.

This transition signifies continuity anchored in faith and renewal inspired by vision. As the Communion looks ahead, many express confidence that under Patriarch Jones’ leadership, the Church will continue to uphold its calling to sacramental worship, evangelical witness, and charismatic life in the power of the Holy Spirit.

In this sacred season of transition, may the faithful across nations stand united in encouragement and hope. Let us extend our wholehearted support, steadfast love, and fervent prayers to our newly appointed Patriarch. May God grant him wisdom, strength, and grace as he shepherds the ICCEC into this new season of faith and mission.
