“Crusin’ thru 2 Cor, Part XI”

2 Corinthians 8: 24: “Therefore openly before the Churches, show the proof of your love and of our reason for boasting about you.” Many are the conceptions about love; multitudinous are its misconceptions. This portion of 2 Corinthians deals with a global offering that is being raised for the struggling Church in Judea. The vast majority of those being asked to give had never even met the intended recipients of the gift, yet they were glad to give. As St. Paul says, this practice of giving is proof of love, just as God proved His love for the world by sending His son. Any understanding of love that isn’t rooted in giving is a misunderstanding.
