Friday, May 5: “Government through Wisdom”

Wisdom 6: 21: “If you delight in thrones and scepters, O monarchs over the peoples, honor wisdom, that you may reign forever.”

There are two kinds of rulers: those who rule in this age, and those who rule in the age to come (Matthew 19: 28, 2 Timothy 2: 12, Revelation 20: 4). They aren’t necessarily the same bunch of folks. Only those who are wise with a wisdom that begins with the fear of the Lord (Psalm 111: 10) will continue in authority on that day, and into eternity, no matter how much they love their throne. They would do well to remember–it is Christ’s Throne they’re sitting on, not their own.
