Monday, August 28: “The Power of Love”

1 Kings 1: 29-31 “The king bowed and said, ‘As the Lord lives, Who has redeemed my life from all distress, surely as I vowed to you by the Lord God of Israel, saying, “Your son Solomon shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place”; I will indeed do so this day.‘ Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the ground, and prostrated herself before the king and said, ‘May my lord King David live forever.’”

David and Bathsheba had been together for over thirty years at this point; their love was everlasting. He had made great promises to her and their son Solomon–promises he was ready to keep at any cost. So, just a nice love story, right? No, it is far more! The relationship between David and Bathsheba is a representation of the love the Lord God has for all His children; powerful, faithful, and never-ending. And it is ours for the asking!
