Monday, May 8: “Restored Runways”

Colossians 4: 9a, 10b: “Onesimus, our faithful and beloved brother … and also Barnabas’ cousin Mark….”

You remember Onesimus, the runaway slave who happened to meet Paul in prison. You remember Mark, who ran away from ministry during Paul’s first missionary journey. Now these two runaways are both touted as Paul’s “fellow workers for the Kingdom … they have proven to be an encouragement to me” (v. 11). How can this be? Only in the Kingdom of God, where restoration is the goal and forgiveness is the instrument. Anything less is not the plan of God.
