Saturday, July 1: “Looking for a City”

Psalm 107: 36, 37:“There [God] makes the hungry to dwell, so that they may establish an inhabited city, and sow fields and plant vineyards, and gather a fruitful harvest.”

Some cities are better than others, but let us not forget that cities are God’s plan for society. Why? Because cities are where people gather together. Is not the Kingdom of God itself called a city (Hebrews 11: 10)? The imagery here is of a functioning, productive city, which is that way because it is God’s city, populated by God;s people, living God’s way.
