“Growing in Boldness”

Mark 9: 4: “Elijah appeared to them along with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus.”

It wasn’t that Peter, James, and John weren’t afraid of ghosts. Shortly before this, when they mistook Jesus walking on the water for a ghost, they panicked like Shaggy and Scooby in your favorite “Scooby Doo, Where Are You?” episode (Mark 6: 49, 50). Now, upon seeing two long-dead figures from Israel’s past right there among them, they not only refuse to freak out, they invite them to pitch a tent and stay awhile. Their courage (and faith?) sure grew a lot in two chapters!
