Thursday, May 4: “Rescue through Vow-paying”

Psalm 50: 14, 15: “Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving and pay your vows to the Most High; call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me.”

Have we limited our sacrifices, thanksgivings, and vows to a matter of mere words? Worship is like witness: It is best acted, not spoken. And biblically, these acts, including tithes and offerings, are expressed materially, i.e., monetarily. Don’t like giving to a man? That’s not the issue; we’re commanded to offer to God.
