Jeremiah 38: 5: “King Zedekiah said, ‘Behold, [Jeremiah] is in your hands, for the king can do nothing against you.”

King Zedekiah pretended to be a believer in God and a supporter of Jeremiah–as long as he thought he might get favor from either (Jeremiah 37: 3, 17, 21). But no sooner did he feel threatened by Jeremiah’s enemies than his true colors showed through. True believers or true friends don’t vacillate. SHOW LESS
