Tuesday, August 8: “Better Luck THIS Time”

Acts 18: 18, 23: “Paul, having remained many days longer, took leave of the brethren…. And having spent some time there, he left and passed successfully through the Galatian region and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.”

The Jews in Corinth had just hauled Paul before the proconsul. When that failed, they beat up one of the city’s leading Christians (2 Corinthians 1: 1). Paul, undaunted, didn’t run away, but hung around many days longer. When he did leave town, he went back through Galatia, where he had previously been persecuted, stoned, and left for dead. Like Nathan before him, St. Paul was one courageous guy!
