Wednesday, August 24: “Condemnation vs. Conviction”

Psalm 12: 8: “The wicked strut about on every side when vileness is exalted among the sons of men.”

Vileness (worthlessness) is not to be tolerated. It should be confronted–not in anger or superiority, but in love. But we’ve become so afraid of being accused of condemning others (which is certainly not the right approach) that we’ve forgotten conviction, a work of the Holy Spirit in a person’s conscience that gets subverted when we try to fit into society’s “anything goes” approach. And then we seem surprised when the wicked begin to strut.
