“Special Skills”

Luke 10: 19: “Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions.” When you think about it, power over snakes and scorpions seems like a somewhat specialized skill set, not likely to be needed every day. But Jesus is referring back to Deuteronomy 8: 15, (check it out, it’s the exact same wording) where Moses reminded Israel that God got them through every wilderness obstacle on the way to the Promised Land. Jesus’ message is: When you’re moving toward God’s destination, under His cloud, these little irritations won’t stop you!
