“Amazing Grace”
2 Corinthians 8: 1-2: “We wish to make known to you the grace of God which has been given to the churches of Macedonia, that in a great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty overflowed in the wealth of their liberality.” When we think of grace we usually think of some great gift or ability one has received. But St. Paul talks about the Macedonian’s grace in the midst of great poverty to give, rather than receive. We might consider this backwards, but for two thousand years now these Christians from Macedonia have been held up as a shining example of Christian charity. Can we match them?
