“Majestic Tapestry”

Psalm 83: 3-4a: “They make shrewd plans against Your people, and conspire together against Your treasured ones. They have said, ‘Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation.’” When you look at the whole Daily Office Lectionary today, a beautiful pattern emerges. First we see the attack against God’s people, in the Psalm verses written above. But then the man of God cries out in 1 Samuel 2: 30,“Those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me will be lightly esteemed.” Then David answers that in Psalm 86: 9 with the proclamation: “All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, and they shall glorify Your Name.”Take heart, persecuted peoples of the earth; the Lord has His eyes on you!
