“Poured Out”

1 Samuel 7: 6: “And they gathered to Mizpah, and drew water and poured it out before the Lord.” We might miss it, but the act of pouring out has great biblical significance. Hannah poured out her soul before the Lord (1 Samuel 1: 15); Elijah poured out water before the Lord at Mt. Carmel (1 Kings 18: 33); Mary poured out her perfume on the Lord’s head (Mark 14: 3) and many more - over 150 times in the Bible. But foremost among these: Christ poured out His blood for us (Matthew 26: 28) and God poured out the Holy Spirit upon us (Joel 2: 28). That’s a lot of pouring!
