“Big Boys Do Cry”
Luke 22: 62: “And he (Peter) went out and wept bitterly.” The Scriptures picture St. Peter as anything but a crybaby. But here we see him not only weeping, but weeping bitterly. And you know, it’s a good thing. The tears of Luke 22 make possible the boldness of Acts 2, and the commitment of John 21. As St. Paul puts it,“The sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” (2 Corinthians 7: 10) Pity the person of no tears!
