“Like Father, Like Son – NOT!”

2 Samuel 15: 10: “Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, ‘As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, “Absalom is king in Hebron.”’” How nice, David and Absalom both began their reigns in Hebron (2 Samuel 2: 1-4). But the similarity stops there. David started there by the command of the Lord; Absalom went in deception. David moved on from there only as the Lord opened the door, Absalom forced his own way by trickery and flattery. And the result? David ruled much longer, and died in his bed. Absalom died hanging in a tree with three spears in his heart. Which way worked best?
