“Private Entrance”

1 Kings 10: 4, 5: “When the Queen of Sheba perceived all the wisdom of Solomon, the house he had built … and his stairway by which he went up to the house f the Lord ...” Unlike his father, who fought for everything he got, Solomon was palace-born and palace-bred, and he had to fight very little to come into his throne. This led to pride, as we see here. Imagine, he had built his own stairway into the temple! No hobnobbing with the commoners for him! This was a precursor of much pride and self-centeredness to come, which manifested itself with the accumulation of wives, riches, and eventually, trouble (2 Kings 11).
