Matthew 2: 1: “Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem ...” The Philippines set a new record this year. It was in early August (only 135 shopping days left ‘til Christmas!) that local stores began stocking their shelves with Christmas décor. Overpriced décor, at that. It wasn’t even a brr month yet! And here, 3 ½ months before the Feast of the Nativity, the Magi make an early entrance in our MDR. Why? Basically, because their tale isn’t as much a Nativity story as it is a story of God revealing Himself to the Gentiles. That's appropriate twelve months a year! Nevertheless, let us be the first to wish you: Merry Christmas! Then again, maybe we should wait until at least December.
