“James and John, Modern-day Role Models”
Mark 10: 35, 36: “And James and John, the two sons of Zebedee, came up to Him, saying to Him, ‘Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of You.’ And He said to them, ‘What do you want Me to do for you?’” Do James and John sound like they came right out of today’s Church, or what? The prayers of many believers are carbon copies of this prayer of the Sons of Thunder, and most people’s most intense desire is to hear the same answer Jesus gave to them: “Sure, whaddaya want?” But give the J & J boys credit, when Jesus shot them down (and made an object lesson of them in the process), they didn’t get offended or quit; they proceeded right on to Jerusalem with Him. How do we respond when we get disappointed?
