“Mutual Hatred Club”

John 15: 23: “He who hates Me hates My Father also.” Harsh, no? Does this mean that all non-Christians hate the Father, that anyone not receiving Jesus is hopeless? Perhaps it’s not so black and white. A simple lack of acceptance or unbelief is different than hatred. Thus, one might simply refuse to accept Jesus without vicious hatred for the Father. The thing to remember: Jesus died for them all, simple unbelievers as well as haters, and still calls them to Himself. As He says in the next chapter, the Holy Spirit will come and convict (not condemn) the world, and be a guide into truth (John 16: 8-13).
