“Bended Knee”

Romans 14: 10-11b: “But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, do you judge your brother with contempt? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God. For it is written, ‘As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me.’” In the context of our ungodly habit of elevating ourselves to the place of judging each other, St. Paul quotes Isaiah 45: 23, a passage used in Philippians to exalt and praise Christ. But here he uses it as Isaiah did, as a reminder that God alone is judge, and sooner or later every one of us will bow before His righteous judgment. Jesus alone is Lord (and Judge) of us all.
