“Careful with the Challenges …”

Job 22: 4: “Is it because of your reverence that He reproves you, that He enters into judgement against you?” With friends like this, who needs enemies? Eliphaz, Job’s so called friend and comforter, here questions the value of Job’s vigor, wisdom, righteousness, and reverence. Again, remember the end of the story: The Lord told Eliphaz that his counsel was not right (Job 42: 7). So ignore the challenges of this misguided counselor. Your vigor, wisdom, righteousness, and yes, your reverence, are blessed by God, but a lack of these things will lead to deception and bondage.
