“Fully Trained”
Luke 6: 40: “A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.” Do we take teachers for granted? Is it just a fallback contingency, if we can’t get a real job? (If you can’t do, teach – heaven forbid!) Jesus reminds us here that a teacher must be trained; not just in the subject being taught, but trained in how to teach, as well. Teaching isn’t for everyone (James 3: 1), a non-teacher trying to teach is compared here to a blind leader of the blind, or someone with massive issues pointing out the insignificant shortcomings of others. And, as Jesus powerfully puts it in v. 45, true teaching can only come from the heart.
