“Let’s Move On!”

Joshua 1: 8: “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.” It’s the last day of Christmas for this year - time to move on. We move into the great unknown of 2019 just as the Israelites were moving into the great unknown of the Promised Land. And while much of Joshua’s advice was to “be strong and courageous” (vv. 6, 7, 9), the heart and core of his message is here in v. eight: “Keep God’s word and you will succeed.” It’s no different today. A person courageous yet unrighteous will, sooner or later, be an impoverished failure.
