“Big Hand”
Isaiah 40: 12: “Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, and marked off the heavens off by the span.” The USGS estimates that there are about 333 million cubic miles of water on planet Earth. (A single cubic mile of water equals more than 1.1 trillion gallons) No one can even guess how far out the heavens extend; perhaps because they are endless. Yet all that water can fit in the cupped palm of God’s hand, and the heavens can be measured by a span, which is the distance from the tip of the little finger to the tip of the thumb, of God’s hand. That’s a big hand for a big God! And if you ever feel insecure, remember that He holds you in the palm of that big, big hand – that’s why He reminds us of these things.
