“Scripture Search”

John 5: 29: “You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is these that bear witness of Me.” Like the Pharisees, many of we Christians are constantly scanning for that golden verse, that magic proof text, that will reinforce our ideas and save our souls. It isn’t there. If it were, the rest of the Book could be discarded. The Scriptures are a book, not a verse, which, working together, reveal God’s righteous salvation to every believer. And you heard it here in the Gospel!
