“Analyze This!”

Luke 5: 22: “But Jesus, aware of their reasonings, said to them, ‘Why are you reasoning in your hearts?’” The mind of reason can be a useful thing; a heart of reason can be a destructive one. To always analyze and criticize the motives and actions of others goes beyond reason into judgementalism. Jesus here elevates the situation from one of analysis into something miraculous, and all (Pharisees and teachers of the law included) dropped the heart reasoning and began to glorify God.
