“Make John Happy”

3 John 4: “I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth.” What makes you happy? For a lot of folks it’s prospering and being in good health, as John prays for his readers to receive in verse two. But what really flips John’s switch is to see his flock believing and practicing the truth. This is a picture of God Himself. If you want to make Him happy, if you want Him to delight in you, the path is simple: Embrace His truth; in other words, His Son (John 14: 6).
