“Anchor is a Lot More than Butter …”

Hebrews 6: 18, 19a: “By two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have strong encouragement, we who have fled for refuge in laying hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast.” You’ve seen the old fashioned ship’s anchor, with its two flukes to hold a ship securely. So had the writer of Hebrews. In context these two flukes, the two unchangeable things in which God can’t lie, are His purpose and His promise. Whatever your storm, remember God’s purpose for you and His promise to you, and hold on in hope, secure and steadfast.
