“Let’s Play ‘What If’”

Luke 19: 2-4: “There was a man called by the name of Zaccheus, and he was trying to see who Jesus was, but he was unable because of the crowds, for he was small in stature. And he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree.” What if Zaccheus ran to see Jesus by climbing the old sycamore tree he had climbed on as a boy – but it was gone because the Jericho town council had granted an exemption to the no-tree-cutting ordinance so the local developer could put up a Bagel Hut franchise? Zaccheus wouldn’t have seen Jesus … Jesus wouldn’t have seen him … salvation wouldn’t have come to his house. Just a little game of ‘What If’ to remember the next time the issue comes up in your town.
