“Save the Best for Last”

Acts 20: 25, 38: “I know that all of you, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, will see my face no more … grieving especially over the word that he had spoken, that they should see his face no more.” There are twelve powerful verses of some of St. Paul’s best teaching between verses twenty-five and thirty-eight, including one of the most primo offertory scriptures imaginable. The Ephesians didn’t hear a single one; they dropped out after “This is goodbye forever.” Let we who share the Word learn from this: Don’t lead with your high-impact material, or the rest will fall on deaf ears.
