“Superlative Answer”

1 Kings 18: 38: “Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. Elijah’s request was simple: that fire would consume the offering. God’s answer was much more. When’s the last time you heard of a fire that burned stones and water? God’s answer was a manifestation of His power, proof to the people that all these bombastic things Elijah had been doing really were in obedience to Him, and proof that He was at work in their hearts. That’s God’s specialty: Giving more than you asked for. (1 Corinthians 2: 9)
