“Vinegar Cocktail, Nine Hundred Years Early”

Psalm 69: 21: “They also gave me gall for my food, and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.” Imagine how men read David’s psalm for all those years, wondering what kind of symbolism it contained. How could they know that this one was factual, a literal prophecy that Christ on the cross would actually undergo such ignominy? And just a heads-up: the vinegar back then didn’t taste nearly as good as the vinegar today. It was vile to drink, which was why they gave it to Him.
