“The Price of Hatred”

Genesis 37: 34, 35: “So Jacob tore his clothes, and put sackcloth on his loins, and mourned for his son many days … He refused to be comforted, [saying] ‘Surely I will go down to Sheol in mourning for my son.’” The object of your hatred is not the only one who pays its price—and it’s a lot more than twenty shekels (v. 28). There are people you never realize that are effected by the hatred you harbor toward another; the selfish hatred of Jacob’s sons led to more than fifteen years of misery for him.
