“Anger: Not a Disciplining Tool”

1 Corinthians 4: 12: “I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.” Some men in the Corinthian Church had been defaming Paul in his absence, and, as their apostle, he had to address the issue in this letter. But rather than go off in a rant, he uses logic, analysis, and even a cool sarcasm—but not shame or anger! Parents, shepherds, teachers, take note: Discipline can never be done in anger; if so, it is punishment, not discipline.
