“Give It a Rest!”

Matthew 27: 59, 60: “And Joseph took the body and wrapped in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the entrance of the tomb and went away.” Jesus had spent ‘The Day of Preparation’ (v. 62) in intense agony, passion, and labor, bearing the sin of the world. Now was the Sabbath, the day of rest, and God made sure Christ’ body received the rest uninterrupted. The suffering and affliction of this age are not forever; they, too, will pass as mankind lives in an eternal rest from them. This is God’s promise!
