Day 52: Spiritual Food in Quarantine

Let your light shine before men.

“Take me out of the dark, my Lord, I don’t want to be there.” So goes a famous song from the 1980’s. The writer may be tired of being part of the darkness or maybe he's weary of being light in the midst of the darkness. The Bible says we have been called out of darkness into God’s marvelous light; we are now the light of the world. No one lights a lamp and keeps it from serving its purpose. Instead, it is put in a dark place and up on a stand. Jesus, the great Light, began His ministry by dawning upon a people sitting in darkness and in the shadow of death. This is also our calling and it means we will face adversity. But His message is for us is not to despair but to rejoice and be glad for the privilege of participating in His work and partaking of His divine nature, so our focus should be on the need of those in darkness, not our dislike of it. We are given that privilege right at this time.
