Day 59: Spiritual Food in Quarantine

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

God made the earth. It was good. God made man in His image. It was good. Man sinned; it impaired the divine image and compromised all creation. It wasn’t good. But God is good all the time. The Agent He used in creation, His Son, is the same One He employed in its restoration. It was very good. That restoration started on Easter with the resurrection of Jesus, the firstborn from the dead, and is well on the way to fullness. Why then would we think God will discard this earth and our bodies so we can live as spirits in heaven, while at the same time pray for the kingdom of heaven to come to earth and confess we believe in the resurrection of the body and the life of the world to come? It’s tempting to leave when things don’t go well, like right now with Covid-19. But this is just part of the corruption caused by sin. The good news is that Jesus is making all things new. And He invites us to participate in that work. So lose the fear, not the hope.
