Day 64: Spiritual Food in Quarantine

“Because I live, you will live also.”

A line in a famous hymn goes, “and the great Church victorious shall be the Church at rest.” I hope we don’t misunderstand this as celestial inactivity. When Jesus said He was going to prepare a place for us so that where He is, there we may be also, He wasn’t going to make room reservations for us. He was talking about the process of us becoming conformed to His stature. That means if He went about doing good, we will too. In fact, He said greater works than His shall we do. Eternal life is not work stoppage but active participation in the divine life of God. Because Jesus lives, we will also live His kind of life. That starts now.
