Day 83: Spiritual Food in Quarantine

“There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Gal 3:28)

Evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders come out of the heart. That’s because of an us-and-them mentality which makes us believe there are victims and there are aggressors. We’re mistaken if we think doing these things to others don’t hurt us or that we gain from them. The Bible says Jesus made all of us one new humanity. There are no chosen or excluded people, rich or poor, black or white, male or female. We are all one in Christ and members of each other. Any injustice, any oppression, any exploitation, any manipulation is done to us. John Donne said it well when he wrote, “No man is an island entire of itself … Any man's death diminishes me because I am involved in mankind. Therefore, never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.”
