Day 87: Spiritual Food in Quarantine
“For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.” (Gal 5:6)
Whoever says Paul and James are at odds on the matter of faith and works should read their epistles more attentively. They actually proclaim the same thing but express it in different ways. James says faith without works is dead. Paul preaches faith working through love. By “works” James means works of love. Paul concurs by saying that if one has faith that can move mountains, but does not have love, he is nothing; his faith is dead. The consistent message of the gospel is about a living faith in the God of love. That message is best conveyed by means of the visible, not the audible. That’s why the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, so that we can behold His glory, live accordingly and manifest it fully.
