1 Thessalonians 4: 14:“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.” There are a lot of theories and speculations about the condition of those departed from this earthly realm between now and the Second Coming, most of them not arising from anything close to the Bible. Two statements found repeatedly in Scripture are that they are with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5: 8) and that they are in some condition somehow similar to sleep. (here, Acts 7: 60) Before any violent reactions, just think about it: Isn’t sleep usually considered a good thing, something we often even long for? And the one sure thing is, we all wake up at the resurrection.
