December 11, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment
Then I heard the voice of the Lord. He said, “Who will I send? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me!” (Isa 6:8)
Isaiah was in low spirits because of the death of Uzziah who was considered to be one of Israel's greatest kings and therefore a great loss. In this despondent state, God showed the prophet a vision of His glory and opened his eyes to the truth that He continues to reign as Israel's King even if human monarchs come and go. So when He asked whom he could send to make people aware of this, he readily volunteered.
In the wilderness that is the world today, God is looking for those He can send who are willing to say yes and bring good news of hope and make everyone know that the less than ideal that they see is not all there is to it. Let us respond to that call and proclaim to a desolate people the coming of their King and the promise of a new earth under His government.
