Easter Sunday, March 31: “Victory over Death”

Exodus 12: 13: “The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.”

Fifteen hundred years before Christ, God had delivered Israel from the plague which the death angel brought to all dwelling in Egypt–rich or poor, good or bad, man or beast. It was a one-time victory; a victory of the moment; for everyone who escaped the death angel via the blood of the lamb that ominous night eventually fell prey to its power, as did all who followed that generation. But when the blood of the Lamb of God was shed on the cross, a new Passover was instituted, a deeper victory was given. For the Blood of that one Lamb, the Lamb Who rose from the dead and sits eternally on His throne at the right hand of the Father, gives all mankind victory over death forever!
