February 5, 2025 Daily Dose of Discernment

Do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love be servants of one another. (Galatians 5:13)

We are the slave of whatever we choose to obey (Romans 6:16). If we think we are free to do what we want, not only are we enslaved by our own lusts, we are also deceived by them, because that is not freedom. The only other master we can have is God.

In the passage above, Paul is saying that we should not forfeit the true freedom we have as servants of the Lord by being in bondage to fleshly indulgence. Instead, we must use it to obey His command to love one another and delight in its fullness.
