Friday, August 12: “Undivided Part V”
Judges 15: 11, 12a: “Then 3, 000 men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock of Etam and said to Samson, ‘Do you not know that the Philistines are rulers over us? What then is this that you have done to us?’ And he said to them, ‘As they did to me, so I have done to them.’ They said to him, ‘We have come down to bind you so that we may give you into the hands of the Philistines.’”
What was the difference between Samson and David? David had the support of the people; Samson did not. Israel would rather toil under the yoke of the enemy than shake the status quo and get involved in the risky struggle for freedom. Thank God for the Samsons among us who, by the Spirit of the Lord, can break free from the shackles (v. 14) and get on about the work of deliverance for years (v. 20). But Lord, hasten the day when all the Body of Christ joins together in the fight!
