Friday, August 9: "Glory without Hataw"

John 2: 11: “This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.”

After His first miracle, Jesus’ disciples believed in Him. Why not the whole wedding party? Because Jesus made no parade about His miracles; no one except the servants and Mary even knew where the wine had come from. How many times do the Gospels show Him performing His signs in private, and requesting the newly healed to keep it quiet! Maybe humility, rather than all the hooting and the hollering and the self-aggrandizement, is where the miraculous finds its true glory.
