Friday, December 6: “Isaiah Speaks to the Nations: Day VI”
Isaiah 3: 14, 15: “The Lord enters into judgment with the elders and princes of His people, ‘It is you who have devoured the vineyard; the plunder of the poor is in your houses. What do you mean by crushing My people and grinding the face of the poor?’ declares the Lord God of hosts.”
Here, Isaiah again addresses national leadership who enrich themselves at the expense of the common people, those who have been taxed into oblivion, only to see those funds wind up in the houses of the elitists at the top of the social ladder. The wealth gap is not the result of superior governmental or business practices; it is flotsam in the wake of the ship of self-centered greed and lack of compassion. This, then and now, the Lord arises to contend (v. 13).
