Friday, October 20: “Live Like Jesus’ Messiahship Is Real”

Matthew 11: 2, 3: “Now when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples and said to Him, ‘Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?’”

At first glance, this story casts John in a bad light: He’s doubting the very Christ for Whom he prepared the way! But look again. From within the prison, who was his only source of information? His disciples; those whom he had released to follow Jesus (John 1: 29-34), but had refused and stayed with John, while forming some sort of rivalry with the disciples of Jesus (John 3: 25, 26). In other words, John was working with biased intel from those loyal to him, not Jesus. So he ended up with fake news.
